Vicky Parikh

Dr. Vicky Parikh is an accomplished healthcare executive and academic dedicated to improving health outcomes and reducing healthcare costs. As the Executive Director of Population Health at MedStar Shah Medical Group and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Georgetown University, he brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his work. He is also an Associate Faculty member at the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Dr. Parikh is committed to addressing the root causes of gaps in care, improving access, increasing preventive services utilization, addressing health inequities, and improving the well-being of communities. He is a skilled population health management expert who employs a proactive, data-driven approach to optimize care delivery and improve health outcomes. His diverse skill set includes advanced clinical predictive modeling, patient risk analyses, population and provider analytics, strategic planning, project management, data analytics, and clinical knowledge. He has a proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and implementing successful programs that improve health outcomes and reduce costs.

Dr. Parikh earned his medical degree from the renowned K. J. Somaiya Medical College at the University of Mumbai, India. He gained hands-on experience in clinical settings before earning his Master’s in Public Health (MPH) degree at George Washington University. His MPH degree provided him with a deeper understanding of biostatistics, risk modeling, risk stratification, and the importance of population health management.

In addition to his academic and research experience, Dr. Parikh has held several leadership positions throughout his career. He built and created a regional network for a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) in the Maryland region and, designed and implemented a Medicare Advantage Plan. He has also led the formation and successful implementation of several ACOs. Dr. Parikh has been responsible for various state and commercial programs, including the Maryland Multi-Payer Program (MMPP), CareFirst PCMH, Maryland Primary Care Program (MDPCP), Aetna ACO, Cigna ACO, quality metrics reporting, NCQA accreditation, and patient experience.

Dr. Parikh is an elected member of several distinguished healthcare coalitions, including Prevention Link and PG County Health Population Health Advisory Committee. He also serves as a steering committee member at Carequality, a national interoperability framework enabling nationwide care coordination.
